Home Beyond Walls: Rethinking Housing for an Interconnected Future
Published in Urban Magazine Vol. 35 by Columbia University GSAPP — an essay investigating the intersection of housing, private property, and ecological urbanism using Berlin as a case study.
This article investigates the intersection of housing, private property, and ecological urbanism using Berlin as a case study. Drawing on philosophical and socio-political theory, it critiques the modern home as a site of disconnection and proposes a vision of housing as an adaptive, relational system that mediates between individuals, ecosystems, and urban complexity.
This work synthesizes my core intellectual commitments. It proposes that the future of dwelling lies not in fixed forms, but in systems that foster belonging, adaptability, and ecological entanglement. I consider it both a manifesto and a bridge to the kind of experimental practice I aim to develop.
